Would my bird dog just confused if I started using a pheasant call for when we go pheasant hunting?
I don't think the dog would get confused. The dog knows it's you, not the bird making the call. Plus, the dog relies on its nose, not its ears to find the birds.
If you have a good bird dog, I don't see why a call would be much use. The dog will find and flush out anything nearby anyhow. I never heard anyone use a call at the pheasant club I used to shoot at.
